Walk for Paul

Walk for Paul & Macmillan Cancer Support

A small group of friends are taking on a 10-mile walk in support of Paul Lee. Paul is in treatment for cancer and wishes to raise some funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The walk will take place on Sunday 15th October 2023 and will see a walk from Clowne in Derbyshire to Rother Valley Country Park.

The background to the fundraiser

Organiser of the event, David Lilley, said "We all know that Cancer affects many lives. The number of people living with cancer is frightening. According to research from Macmillan, it is estimated that there are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK, rising to 3.5 million by 2025, 4 million by 2030, and 5.3 million by 2040. The stats really don't hit home until you encounter the devastation and the challenges when someone you know and love gets this terrible disease.  In my discussions with Paul, who happens to be one of the nicest guys I have ever known, he has expressed gratitude to Macmillan Cancer Support and said he would like to do something to help them - and that's where the idea for this 10-mile walk came from".

The 10 mile walk will finish at Rother Valley Country Park

The walk will be one of a few fundraising activities. This will include a Coffee Morning and a Raffle Prize Draw, with some exciting prizes, including short holiday breaks and tickets for professional sporting events. Winners of all prizes will be posted in the news section of this website.

The Child Foundation Charity will be organising the events and collecting the funds but 100% of all money raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. We will issue a report of this amount and take pictures of the cheque handover.
